Overall Function

Hydrogen as a potential energy source and a climate solution for hardest-to-decarbonize sectors (e.g., aviation, shipping, long-haul trucking, heavy industry) is receiving much government, industry and investment attention. But many knowledge gaps exist on hydrogen’s impact on the climate, the environment, and public health – and the same can be said for other next-generation fuels and feedstocks (e.g., green ammonia and e-methanol) and new technologies (e.g., CCS and direct air capture). EDF is working to overcome these knowledge gaps by conducting original research and analyses, identifying best practices and technologies, and then turning these insights into sound policy and actionable industry practices.

EDF+Business is focused on, as part of the broader organization wide effort, to ensure that industry and the finance sector have a complete understanding of the full life-cycle climate, environmental, and health impacts of deploying hydrogen and other advanced fuels and energy transition technologies and are supplied with specific recommendations for incorporating these insights into their corporate policies, strategies and investments.

The Senior Manager will be responsible for implementing key aspects of EDF’s science work including building relationships, sharing insights, and managing collaborative research and technology projects and working with corporate partners. Under the leadership of the Director in EDF Business, the Senior Manager will work closely with the Business, Energy Transition, and Climate Science Teams to ensure that full life cycle impacts of deploying hydrogen as part of decarbonization strategies are clearly understood, considered, and acted upon in policies and investments in hydrogen systems globally.
