Overview


World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world's leading conservation organizations, seeks a Program Officer, US Corporate Resilience Partnerships, Climate Goal.


Major Function

The Program Officer supports key WWF partnerships and engages with businesses and their supply chains to advance resilience for people and nature. Our work includes helping companies set strategy, navigate the complexities of climate resilience platforms like TCFD, and develop programs and projects that invest in nature-based solutions for adaptation.



Responsibilities


  • Supports new and ongoing climate change resilience private sector partnerships, projects and grants. Works with private sector counterparts, country office staff, consultants, and other goal team staff to facilitate coordination, communication, and regular reporting for current projects.
  • Facilitates the development of short- and long-term workplans, reports and communications materials for adaptation team projects. Assists with proposals for private sector-related adaptation and resilience projects. Prepares and/or finalizes scopes of work, budgets, and administrative information for contracts.
  • Aids in the collaboration with the WWF global network of climate & business colleagues and the Climate Business Network, plans for Climate Business Network calls, periodic webinars, and in-person topical meetings.
  • Aids in the development of material for workshops, pitch decks, blogs, and other private sector engagement tools for the advancement of the WWF-US Climate team's corporate resilience strategy.
  • Supports methodology reviews and relationships with platforms like the BSR, Bioplastic Feedstock Alliance, and Bonsucro.
  • Conducts literature reviews and monitors new technical information, tools, and global trends related to climate change adaptation and resilience; documents learning from projects to inform future adaptation and resilience work.
  • Contributes to developing and implementing WWF-US's corporate climate engagement strategy.
  • Travels to project field locations, providing relevant technical research and workshop planning and logistical support. Assists field offices in integrating climate risks into conservation and sustainable developments strategies for WWF priority places.
  • Collaborates with WWF Private Sector Engagement team, other program goal teams and the WWF global network to advance corporate climate partnerships and ambition. Interacts daily with other program staff and departments to advise and coordinate project activities or to obtain and disseminate information.
  • Represents WWF at climate and business relevant events and meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field such as climate and environmental studies, economics, business or similar concentrations required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years program or other professional experience or advanced degree with 2 plus years of experience. Background in consulting or other direct engagement with corporate sustainability teams is a plus.
  • Substantial knowledge of corporate sustainability landscape as well as climate-related methodologies and platforms relevant to corporate climate ambition and implementation.
  • Thorough knowledge of corporate risk management methodologies and strategies, experience interacting with the private sector, and knowledge of sustainability programs and TCFD.
  • Preferable experience in fields relevant to biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services assessment, or landscape strategic and spatial planning and understanding of international conservation, climate, and sustainable development issues, especially climate risk management, climate resilience, and systems change.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical and project management skills.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate with independence, effectively plan and prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member with a wide range of individuals and cultures.
  • Position will be located in Washington, DC.
  • Some domestic and international travel may be required (10%).
