Position Overview: 

The IT Application Lead – Commercial Sales, Research & Technology, Corporate Strategy, Sustainability will be responsible for providing support for new implementations and ongoing maintenance for Commercial Sales, Research & Technology, Corporate Strategy related systems. In this role, you will be partnering with both technical and functional teams to ensure tasks are being delivered as planned, act as a key contributor for go-live and ongoing support and assist in the planning for strategic initiatives and global operations. 

 

As the IT Application Lead you will be asked to engage and partner with the business to understand the business functional processes and translate that understanding into business and technical requirements. You will assess solution options, formulate plans and work with the business on application changes. Assist in periodic presentations to leadership and functional teams on technology solutions. 

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities: 

  • Business/Technical Partner  
  • Maintain and support system changes (break-fix, minor enhancements, and deployments) to the applications.     
  • Partners with the business to design specifications for Commercial Sales, Research & Technology, Corporate Strategy, Sustainability related applications.    
  • Collaborates within IT to ensure functional and technical integration points are adequately addressed 
  • Ensures environments are secured and compliant with Novelis compliance guidelines 
  • Ensures adherence to organization, project standards and documentation standards.  
  • Partners with business and IT groups to develop, evaluate and document solution options.  
  • Leverages the appropriate approach to project management and software development (Agile, Waterfall, etc…) 
  • Collaborates with other IT Applications Leads to ensure integration points are captured.  
  • Collaborates with IT leadership to discuss and communicate best solutions. Provides technical recommendations 
  • Collaborates with IT leadership and stakeholders for current and future project collaboration.   
  • Develops relationships in multiple modules and business functions to help meet project timeline expectations with quality deliverables. 
  • Promotes the application maintenance and processes standards defined by Novelis.   
  • Ensures accountability and takes an active role in promoting and insuring others follow the defined standards. 
  • Creates baseline documentation/training videos of currently enabled solution and keeps solution documentation and training materials current and accessible to team members, e.g. Solution Documentation Standards, Testing Standards, Incident Management Standards, etc. 
  • Embraces a Say Anything approach to peer and partner engagement. 
  • Collaboration with Third-Party providers Actively supports the outsourcing partner when needed or requested by the Operations Support Lead.  
  • Provides input to the support model and structure and develops recommendations.   
  • Designs a thorough transition plan for activities to be owned by offshore team, supported by detailed documentation, training and with two-party signoff.    
  • Promotes open and frequent communication with offshore team to review incidents and maintenance activities. 
  • Established regular meeting cadences to insure alignment to objectives and SLA 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Education:  
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, Computer Science, or related field 
  • Experience:  
  • 5+ years working experience in Information Technology working directly with business functions  
  •  IT project management experience  
  • 2+ years facilitating the development and implementation of business initiatives and projects 
  • Experience in application delivery with on-time & on-budget solutions.  
  • Experience working across a global organization and across multiple functions  
  • Relationship-building, ability to listen, build rapport, and gain trust  
  • Strong understanding of process improvements and problem solving  
  • Operates with customer focus, diplomacy, and sense of urgency  
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable working with all levels of the organization  
  • Ability to lead by example and engage/influence peers and team members to support tasks or projects 
  • Be collaborative and to encourage collaboration among others  
  • Strong writing, speaking and presenting skills  
  • Business acumen of functions at corporate/regional levels  
  • Ability to navigate a fast-paced environment while balancing priorities across multiple areas  
  • Ability to listen attentively and actively to gain understanding of business needs

  • Hands on experience with process improvement methodologies 
  • Leverages the appropriate approach to project management and software development (Agile, Waterfall, etc…) 
  • Track record of sharing and publishing knowledge amongst peers 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience leading diverse teams, directly or indirectly, with demonstrated ability to organize and direct work 
  • Experience in Agile methodology 
  • Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of spend management and capital planning.
