Glassboro, NJ

Green Jobs Academy Coordinator

Rowan University

Full-time, grant-funded

As the Coordinator of the Green Jobs Academy, in Rowan’s School of Earth & Environment, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the development and implementation of certificate programs that will provide affordable, rapid micro-credentials to individuals who wish to enter the fast-growing fields of wind and solar energy, as well as other fields in the rapidly expanding green economy.

In collaboration with the Rowan College of South Jersey, you will be responsible for designing and developing curriculum that aligns with the needs of industry partners. This will involve working closely with industry practitioners to understand the skills and knowledge required for success in their respective fields.

Initial programs will focus on training for the wind and solar industries, with support from a $1M TD Bank Ready Challenge grant. Subsequent programs may expand into areas such as regenerative food technology, environmental sampling, natural resource management, and other areas of the emerging green economy. The certifications offered by the Green Jobs Academy will be design to be “stackable,” so that they can combined as part of an Associate’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree.

You will also be responsible for establishing the necessary teaching infrastructure to support these certificate programs. This will involve recruiting and training instructors who are experts in their respective fields, as well as ensuring that the necessary resources, such as textbooks and online learning platforms, are available to students.

In addition, you will play a critical role in developing relationships with regional industries in the green economy. This will involve reaching out to potential employers to understand their workforce needs and to establish partnerships that will provide job opportunities for program participants.

As the Coordinator of the Green Jobs Academy, you will also be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the program, including overseeing the budget, marketing programs, recruiting students, tracking student enrollment and progress, and ensuring that the program is meeting its goals and objectives.

Overall, your role will be critical in helping to develop the workforce necessary to support the growing green economy of tomorrow. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals seeking to enter this exciting and rapidly expanding field.
