Description

Cox Enterprises is hiring a Director for ESG Data and Reporting. This role is responsible for leading ESG data governance, accuracy, collection, reporting, and analysis for Cox Enterprises, working with key partners in Diversity and Inclusion, Cox Conserves, Human Resources, Risk, Audit, Strategy, M&A, and others. This role will lead the data collection and reporting process for all ESG information, will ensure the validity of all ongoing reporting, including alignment to ESG standards, and will support the execution of the Impact report. The role will also develop an ongoing approach to data and metrics that support Cox’s material ESG topic areas and evolve the approach to align with business and stakeholder needs. 

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Assist and advise on the company’s overall approach to ESG reporting. 

  • Lead on regular materiality assessments, including double materiality. 
  • Drive approach and alignment with appropriate ESG frameworks and regulations, including GRI and others. 
  • Lead ESG efforts with M&A activities, including screenings for potential verticals and targets and data efforts for the current portfolio. 
  • Partner with all departments, including Sustainability, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Industry Relations, Business Development, Strategy, Diversity and Inclusion, and Human Resources, to plan, organize, and execute short-term and long-term ESG reporting. 
  • Develop and lead approach to internal and external data auditing and assurance. 
  • Maintain awareness of industry-wide best practices and developments in ESG and appropriately provide leadership on internal changes as necessary. 
  • Develop and lead an approach to alignment with upcoming regulatory requirements. 
  • Oversight of department budget for CSR initiatives. 
  • Support ESG governance structure, including reporting to the ESG Committee of the Board. 
  • Lead on approach to data gap filling, forecasting, modeling, etc. 
  • Assist with various projects as needed. 

Qualifications 

Minimum qualifications include: 

  • Bachelors in CSR, sustainability, analytics, or a related field and 10 years of experience in CSR (corporate social responsibility), ESG (environmental social and governance), or sustainability reporting 

  • 5+ years’ experience in a management or leadership role 
  • In-depth understanding of sustainability, CSR, and impact reporting/practices 
  • Experience leading ESG data assurance efforts. 
  • Experience with and expertise in GHG Protocol, carbon accounting, and other ESG reporting best practices. 
  • Experience implementing data governance and controls. 
  • Excellent ability to lead data analysis approaches and use data to glean insights that drive performance. 
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire others. 
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment with multiple personality types. 
  • Ability to work with all levels of the business and with a strong executive presence. 
  • Ability to think strategically, to link ESG efforts with larger business ambition and success. 
  • Strong writing and communication skills, ability to facilitate meetings with multiple audience types. 
  • Proven analytical skills and insights development. 
  • Strong ability with PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. 

Preferred qualifications include: 

  • A master’s in business administration, a master’s degree in data, Social Impact, ESG, etc., or a related field is preferred. 

  • Experience working in a complex business in multiple different industries. 


Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $129,100.00 - $215,100.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
