About the Role

We’re looking for a foundational Community Manager to join our remote, scrappy team and deliver on our mission of enabling people around the world to take action in the face of climate change.

At Dashboard.Earth, you will work with Los Angeles community organizations, businesses, nonprofits, schools and other organizations to connect climate-concerned citizens with the hundreds of hyper-local solutions available in our app.

Who are you? First off, you are passionate about making your community more resilient in the face of climate change. You are a born organizer. Your magnetic personality pulls others into your orbit. Once they are there, you are articulate and persuasive in rallying them to your cause. You are not only comfortable walking up to strangers to strike up a conversation or give a presentation, you can’t wait for the opportunity to sparkle. Professionally, you’ve got proven experience in online and offline community organizing… you may have even worked for digital brands like Yelp, TaskRabbit and NextDoor building real world relationships that translate into vibrant online communities. As the real world face of Dashboard.Earth in LA, you will be instrumental in exponentially growing our pilot user base into a climate action juggernaut!

This position reports directly to the Head of Community Engagement, you will help connect climate-concerned individuals in Los Angeles with hyper-local solutions.

Core Responsibilities

  • Required: live in Los Angeles County with the ability to travel reliably to local events
  • Work with the Director of Community Engagement to develop and implement a strategy to build the Dashboard.Earth community in Los Angeles
  • Build and maintain programs and activities that will grow climate action communities both online and in the real world
  • Be a principal local ambassador for the company, responsible for sharing its vision with the Los Angeles community
  • Organize community outreach programs and coordinate special events that promote Dashboard’s vision of local climate adaptation
  • Build strategic relationships and partnerships with local organizations (e.g. local businesses, community organizations, nonprofits, schools) that build awareness and engagement in the Dashboard app
  • Leverage partnerships to funnel users into Dashboard.Earth’s in-app experience and engage in taking climate actions
  • Serve as a point of contact for neighboring businesses, institutions, and communities
  • Help build library of in-app rewards by cultivating partners willing to contribute in-kind prizes and rewards for Dashboard users
  • Respond to inquiries from community members and other parties, and recruit knowledgeable spokespeople or information sources for assistance when needed
  • Provide community feedback to the Product and other management team stakeholders
  • Act as the voice, tone, and moderator of the brand through community support, content distribution, and digital engagement to build brand presence and trust, both online and in-person
  • Manage the day-to-day curation and growth of our social media presence
  • Work with the Marketing team to identify marketing and outreach opportunities that build upon community engagement activities and events
  • Actively research trends and hot topics -- by engaging with the latest industry developments
  • Build and promote cross-functional relationships within the company

Preferred Skills and experience:

  • You have 3+ years of professional experience in event planning, social media management, communications with startups or tech industry
  • Social butterfly - willing to approach and connect with business owners and community organizations to forge relationships and inspire collaboration
  • Strong soft skills online and in person
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Thrive in an autonomous environment
  • Ability to develop creative, engaging and original content
  • Good customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Friendly and outgoing personality
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive subjects with tact, kindness, and professionalism
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally in LA County – this is not a desk job!
  • Must have regular access to an car
