Role Overview
Our Senior Analyst, Corporate Strategy, will help support executive leadership decisions by providing competitive and market/industry insights primarily through analysis, synthesis of information, data visualization, and the development of business plans and presentations. Our ideal candidate has a solid understanding of linking business drivers to outcomes with the ability to analyze and synthesize a wide variety of data and research. Must also have experience influencing business decisions through story-driven, visually compelling presentations while communicating advanced analytic methods. This person must be comfortable getting their hands dirty in data and requires a high comfort-level with data visualization.

This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and represents an opportunity to jump into and influence the dynamic and growing renewable energy industry.

Primary Responsibilities
• Develop a deep understanding of industry, corporate, and customer drivers in order to conduct business performance optimization analysis
• Work with key stakeholders to define, structure, and intake data into our systems for ultimate visualization and consumption in a program like Tableau
• Build, manage, and evolve visualizations that provide actionable insights to the business teams we support
• Provide analytical support by framing complex problems, identifying variable relationship, distilling insights from data, and presenting findings
• Analyze industry dynamics, market forces, and competitors' pricing and promotions activities to evaluate implications for the company
• Distill actionable insights from data and presenting findings to business partners
• Collaborate across functions to provide guidance around industry and competitive trends

Success Profile
To succeed as a Senior Analyst, Corporate Strategy at Apex Clean Energy, you’ll need to excel within the following criteria:
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, data science, statistics, economics, or a related field
• 4 years progressively responsible experience involving complex analysis
• Master’s degree in business or related field preferred
• 5 years business, technology, and/or financial analytics experience, preferably in a comparable organization
• 3+ years of work experience including business analysis and creating management presentations
• An outstanding ability to analyze problems, apply quantitative analytical approaches, communicate effectively and confidently (both oral and written), work well in cross-functional team
• Extensive experience in business model development
• Experience establishing frameworks for prioritizing internal investment decisions across business opportunities
• Ability to use problem solving methodologies, continuous improvement methods and analytical tools and methodologies
• Excellent problem-solving and teamwork skills
• Strong analytical skills to understand market movements, pricing, and overall financial levers/analysis/models
• Capability to prioritize and deliver on multiple threads of work without losing attention to detail or strategic perspective
• Ability in establishing excellent collaborative working and strategic partnering with individuals and teams at various levels and from various fields of expertise, including executive leadership
• Extensive knowledge of general accounting, cost accounting, budgeting and analysis, financial modeling and forecasting, preferably in the renewable energy industry
• Advanced knowledge and proficiency in business computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Tableau
• Ability to extract and report off relational databases
• Knowledge in organizational design, broad strategy concepts and project management principles
• Working knowledge of the renewable energy industry, preferable
• Willing to work from our headquarters in Charlottesville, VA strongly preferred
