Job Summary and Mission
This position contributes to Starbucks success by leading the environmental stewardship strategy for sustainable dairy, on a global scale. Dairy is one of the leading contributors to GHG emissions and high-water use. As part of the Starbucks Planet Positive aspiration, this person will be responsible for implementing our environmental stewardship strategy and providing programmatic design as it continues to evolve with a focus on GHG reduction, water conservation, water quality improvements, and regenerative agriculture practices. In addition, this person will partner with supply chain and public policy to create an enabling environment.

Summary of Key Responsibilities
Develop and evolve environmental stewardship strategy to enable Starbucks global goal of 50% reduction in GHG by 2030, including
- the Global Sustainable Dairy Standard and verification process
- incentives structure and co-investment strategy to encourage, reward, and de-risk responsible farm management practices
- engagement with co-ops, processors, and farmers to develop and evolve a holistic sustainable dairy program
- environmental measuring, reporting, and verification (global, where possible) including tools
- benchmark against other sustainable dairy programs
- partner and guide NGOs and other strategic partnerships to accelerate progress

• Leadership and Strategy
o Maintain strong working relationships with multiple stakeholders including dairy co-ops and producers, external consultants, academia, NGOs, innovative start-ups, etc. on behalf of Starbucks
o Engage with partners to develop appropriate agronomic strategies fitting each milk region
o Manage programs and initiatives which keep Starbucks in a leadership position within the dairy industry including the Net Zero Initiative for Dairy, amongst other collective action measures
o Summarize key practices and lessons learned from project participants
• Planning and Execution
o Develop strategic and operational plans for the environmental workstream, manage execution, measure and communicate results
o Develop supply chain projects designed to demonstrate and accelerate adoption of environmentally and economically viable practices and technologies on dairy farms; evaluate and communicate project status and results
o Develop process for identifying and assessing Starbucks participation in potential projects; develop recommendations and value proposition
o Assist in developing annual operating plan, budget and quarterly forecast updates relevant to achieving an ambitious pathway towards sustainable dairy
o Collaborate with business units and/or functional areas to implement programs and processes
o Provide training and technical support to local teams
• Business Requirements
o Provides functional expertise and executes functional responsibilities
o Develops solutions and drives strategic cross-functional collaboration to promote effective program implementation
o Provides data to appropriate leaders and influences leaders to consider risk mitigation in their decisions
o Manages external relationships and develops channels for dialogue with key environmental and dairy stakeholders, influencers and organizations including appropriate non-governmental organizations, business associations, public agencies, and policy leaders
o Researches and communicates the potential impact of emerging environmental issues on company programs and businesses, including the assessment of reputational and strategic impacts of business initiatives
Summary of Experience
• Specialization in sustainable dairy programming and on-farm efforts (7years)
• Direct work experience related to regenerative agriculture, smarter agriculture practices with a focus on reducing GHG emissions and improving water quality and use (7 years)
• Experience managing and deploying comprehensive programs to address environmental issues across internal and external stakeholder groups (7 years)
• Leading and facilitating cross-functional groups (7 years)
• Developing and tracking budgets and financial information (5 years)
• Experience managing the activities of external consultants (5 years)
• Experience reporting progress (GHG accounting, water accounting, etc.) (5 years)

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to apply sound business principles and practices to project management and change management processes
• Strong organizational and project management skills cross-functional projects and activities
