The Empire Clean Cities internship will give students (and recent graduates) studying sustainability, environmental sciences, communications, marketing, urban planning, engineering, or other related fields the opportunity to grow public awareness and expand the markets of advanced vehicle technologies, alternative fuels, and practices that reduce harmful emissions in the transportation space. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join ECC's passionate staff and committed board members made up of public, private sector industry leaders.


Alternative Fuel Programs

-- Research partners operating within the Empire Clean Cities (ECC) region interested in deploying and promoting alternatively fueled vehicles
-- Develop a series of template outreach campaigns for partner organizations for deploying alternatively fueled vehicles
-- Assist in research and communication activities related to anti-idling, electrification of the for-hire vehicle industry, and other similar initiatives in New York City
-- Develop and market outreach educational programs with staff

Communications, marketing, and social media

-- Weekly website and social media updates, to correspond with planned marketing and educational outreach programs
-- Advertise and expand programs through local and national media and PR outlets
-- Recommend and plan potential success stories, newsletter articles, video segments or outreach deliverables to promote ECC stakeholder achievements
-- Assist ECC staff in planning and hosting educational workshops and outreach events, including the New York Auto Show, our Spring alternative fuel forum, listening sessions, ride and drives, and more.
-- Other light administrative duties as assigned


The candidate should be self-­motivated and able to work independently and as integral member of a team. Diligence and enthusiasm is a must! A passion for transportation and sustainability issues, alternative fuels and/or vehicles is recommended, but not required.

-- Excellent organization and administrative skills
-- Excellent writing, proof‐reading and oral communication skills
-- Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Google Docs. Preferred experience with Asana, Mailchimp, and Canva.
-- Demonstrated achievement in quantitative analysis and familiarity with statistical analysis preferred, but not required
-- Social media, marketing, and/or graphic design experience strongly preferred


-- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate, graduate or doctorate program.
-- Be 18 years or older

-- This is a full-time paid (via US DOE) position that comes with a monthly Metrocard.
-- 35hr/week or flexible
-- Start date March 23rd or ASAP
