Genomatica is harnessing biology to remake everyday products and materials built by and for the planet. The company is developing and scaling sustainable materials derived from plant- or waste-based feedstocks instead of fossil fuels to help brands deliver on their climate goals and our planet’s needs. Genomatica has already commercialized sustainable materials used in plastics, spandex and cosmetics, and is working on plant-based nylon, household cleaners and more.

Platform managers enable efficient execution of multiple projects within a platform to deliver commercialization ready bioprocesses. Platform managers leverage knowledge of R&D processes, project management, exceptional communication skills and business relationships to identify synergies, set priorities, engage teams and resolve issues to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery across the platform.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Oversees multiple projects within a portfolio grouped by product, technology, or market type.
• Identifies opportunities to increase efficiency and realize synergies across the platform to consistently deliver on time and on budget.
• Maintains strong connection with commercial teams and guides technical execution and validation of platform strategy.
• Ensures communication and alignment of project priorities across the platform with corporate targets and goals.
• May directly manage one or more projects in the platform.

Qualifications & Experience
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required in order satisfactorily perform in this role.

a. Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, math, or related field required.


a. 6+ years of project management experience in industrial biotechnology.
b. Direct people management experience is required.
c. PMP certification is a plus.

Knowledge Requirements
a. Expert knowledge of project management fundamentals.
b. Skilled in use of Microsoft suite of software including fluency in MS Project.

a. Exceptional organization, prioritization, and planning skills.
b. Clear and polished communicator able to influence across levels internally and externally.
c. Approachable, solutions-oriented, decisive; tactfully resolves issues that arise.
d. Leads by example and builds strong business relationships.
e. Adjusts focus from big picture to project task level as needed to make sound decisions, considers all available information, input, and impacts.
f. Enthusiastic champion of project management and process improvement.
