The Climate Registry (TCR) builds and operates GHG reporting programs that generate high quality, consistent, and credible data to help organizations and governments become more efficient, sustainable and competitive. The Marketing Communications Coordinator position will report to the Director of Special Projects and will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of a comprehensive marketing communications strategy for TCR’s events and programs, which include the Water-Energy Nexus Registry, the Climate Leadership Conference and Awards, TCR’s voluntary reporting and state agency programs, Cool Planet Project and the annual delegation to the UN Conference of the Parties (COP).
The position's responsibilities include helping to meet established objectives through marketing communication activities that include email and content marketing; website optimization; digital advertising; copywriting for web and print publications; and more.
Membership communications. Work with the Director of Special Projects to identify and implement marketing communications initiatives that showcase and promote the climate leadership of our members and partners, including the participants in the Water-Energy Nexus registry, state agency reporting program, voluntary reporting program, and Cool Planet Project.
Strategic partner marketing. Develop relationships with our members, partners, and board jurisdictions and provide them with materials to amplify TCR’s brand and messaging.
Email, content and digital marketing. Work with the Director of Special Projects to develop targeted email campaigns as well as high-quality content (e.g., blogs, case studies, success stories, white papers, social postcards, infographics, newsletters, and reports) that showcases TCR’s thought leadership and community of best practice. Implement digital advertising strategies (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Google ads) to promote this content, and create and manage social media content.
Website maintenance and SEO. Oversee website development and content updates, manage search engine optimization and analyze and report on website user activity.
Event support. Assist with developing conference collateral and materials, including video and photography, web content and post-event digital content.
Assist with other marketing communications tasks as needed.
• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 2-3 years of nonprofit communications/marketing experience
• Proficiency with Mailchimp, MS Office, WordPress and Google Analytics experience
• Team player, effective multi-tasker, great organizational and project management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• An active participant in various forms of social media and have a track record for delivering results through these channels as well as knowledge of online communications strategies and best practices
• Ideally, some subject matter expertise in climate change, GHG accounting and environmental sustainability, and an interest in combating climate change
