Genomatica is the leader in bioengineering. We develop commercial biobased processes to make widely-used chemicals that enable better, more sustainable everyday products. That enables our partners and leading brands to offer better food packaging, auto parts, clothing, tires, carpets, and more. We’ve commercialized processes for bio-BDO (for plastics), for biobased butylene glycol (for cosmetics), and chiral pure R13BDO for human nutrition. We’re working on polyamide intermediates (nylon) and on Palm kernel oil alternatives; and we’re helping numerous companies with their bioprocesses.
The Senior Analyst, Strategy and Corporate Development is responsible for evaluating and managing new strategic business opportunities, mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, alliances and/or joint ventures and working effectively with VP, Strategy and Corporate Development to make recommendations for new projects to be used for strategic business decisions. She/he provides support in the planning, designing, due diligence, and implementation of strategic business objectives. This includes supporting Genomatica’s growth through inorganic growth opportunities and streamline of portfolio via divestitures, as well as contributing to strategy conceptualization for advancing the overall product portfolio. In conjunction with scientific staff, plans and evaluates projects by determining market opportunities, development of new industries, customers and territories, while helping to determine the project's financial viability and planning a marketing strategy.

Develop and improve tools and processes needed for assessing and advancing M&A opportunities and overall strategy development
Manage internal M&A database and process
Helps evaluate potential M&A opportunities (e.g,. by providing due diligence on the target, conducting competitive landscape analysis, financial statement analyses)
Assist in managing the overall M&A execution process, including diligence, financial modeling, integration planning and post-close integration
Work with others to develop company specific financial, valuation, and synergy models
Helps drive diligence efforts across different departments, including internal and external data requests and stakeholder coordination
Assists in delivering regular updates to leadership regarding deal progress, key issues/risks and next steps
Performs strategic analyses and provides data, insights and presentations to help in strategy development
Stays informed of key industry, business and competitive trends for the purposes of target identification
Qualifications & Experience
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required in order satisfactorily perform in this role.
A Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or relevant discipline, with 5-8 years of experience, or an advanced degree with 3-5 years of experience in a directly relevant role is required. MBA is highly preferred.
Prior experience at a financial consulting, investment banking firm supporting M&A activities or a similar level and extent of M&A experience
Highly motivated, strategic thinker with a strong financial background
Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment from a broad cross section of the company
Willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily
Excellent communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced, changing environment
Be detail oriented while not losing sight of overall company core purpose
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional Excel skills and the ability to model and analyze transactions

This position works primarily in an office setting, with occasional access to laboratories. As such this position requires to ability to use computers and office equipment, communicate with other individuals through a variety of methods.
