Green Corps is searching for an Assistant Organizing Director to help recruit and train environmental organizers and impact critical environmental campaigns. The Assistant Organizing Director will work under the guidance of the Organizing Director to supervise the training and development of a team of organizers and manage a series of grassroots environmental campaigns on behalf of our partner organizations.
Green Corps was founded in 1992 as the Field School for Environmental Organizing. The mission of Green Corps is to train organizers, provide field support for today’s critical environmental campaigns, and graduate activists who possess the skills, temperament, and commitment to fight and win tomorrow’s environmental battles.
Green Corps’ Field School for Environmental Organizing is a yearlong program that intersperses intensive classroom instruction with multiple campaign efforts. Trainees gain hands-on experience running field campaigns to win environmental protections, as well as on-the-ground mentorship from environmental organizers throughout the nation. At the end of the training, the Green Corps program facilitates trainees’ placement in permanent positions with leading environmental and social change groups.
Green Corps has graduated over 400 organizers from our Field School for Environmental Organizing, with a majority of our graduates continuing their careers in the environmental and social change field. Today, our graduates work as executive directors, field directors, campaigners, advocates and grassroots organizers with leading regional and national groups. Graduates include Patti Lynn, Class of 1997, Executive Director of Corporate Accountability International; Kirsten Collings, Class of 2004, Deputy Director of Chesapeake Climate Action Network; Leila Salazar-Lopez, Class of 1999, Executive Director of Amazon Watch; Glenn Hurowitz, Class of 2002, CEO of Mighty Earth.
