The Walton Sustainability Solutions Initiatives (WSSI) is seeking an experienced sustainability professional to develop leads, cultivate prospects, define projects, and manage existing client relationships for the Global Solutions Service, a university-based practice modeled on the agricultural extension service. This service is focused on co-developing solutions to sustainability problems by engaging government agencies, businesses and international development agencies to co-fund, pilot and scale sustainability technologies, processes and business models. As Director of Business Development the incumbent will be responsible for building a pipeline of high-value projects both domestically and globally. International and domestic travel required.
• Leads business development efforts for the Solution Service and coordinates with related University units such as the Office of Knowledge Enterprise Development, International Development, Corporate and Foundation Relations.
• Facilitates discussions and co-creates projects with funders, WSSI staff, teams of faculty, clients, and partners.
• Develops leads, cultivates prospects, and coordinates proposals to secure a robust pipeline of funded projects.
• Collaborates with other WSSI teams on outreach, conference presentations, and public engagement such as the Sustainability Solutions Festival.
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND eight (8) years of related administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience; OR, Twelve (12) years of related administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Prefer Master’s degree or PhD in Sustainability, Business, International Development, or related field

The Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability conducts research, education, and problem-solving related to sustainability, with a special focus on urban environments.
