Accountable for San Diego Gas & Electric's environmental compliance under federal, state, and local law and development and implementation of SDG&E's Environmental, Social and Governance Sustainability Strategy. Develop environmental and sustainability programs and policies consistent with Sempra Energy's strategic planning goals and federal and state requirements. Identify actions required to respond to new requirements; work across functional organizations and develop key external environmental alliances.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop strategies, programs and policies for environmental compliance and sustainability. Communicate environmental issues to top management.
Develop recommendations regarding environmental and sustainability consequences and opportunities of Company decisions.
Develop and maintain relationships with all key individuals within the Company and at Sempra Energy to develop and implement a strategy for environmental, social and governance sustainability.
Develop and maintain mutually respectful relationships with all key individuals within industry and regulatory agencies.
Develop and communicate departmental objectives to meet Company business needs. Communicate business goals within the department and across divisions.
Ensure that customer needs are met.
Provide general and budget oversight to efforts of interdivisional teams assigned to environmental projects.
Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Bachelor's Degree in environmental or sustainability studies, physical science, biological science, engineering, business, or related discipline required.
Related graduate-level course work, master's degree or juris doctor degree is highly desirable.
12 years - extensive experience in a related field required, including 5 years of supervisory experience required.

Licenses and Certifications
Certification in environmental or sustainability discipline is desirable.
